Special General Meeting Outcome, Thu 26th Feb, 2026
A Special General Meeting was held on 18th February 2026 to vote on a new motion relating to junior event categories, intended to replace the motion passed at the 2025 AGM on 10th December.
At the AGM, members voted in the following rule:
New rules and amended rules from 2025 AGM:
That a 10 & Under Unassisted Competitive Category be formally recognized and made available for inclusion in affiliate programs. This category should use consistent naming across the association for clarity and ease of implementation.
Under this rule, the junior categories available for affiliates to run were:
• Tiny Tots 7 & Under – Assisted and Unassisted
• 10 & Unders – Unassisted
• Junior Divisional
At the Special General Meeting, members voted to remove this rule and consider a new motion:
Proposed Motion:
That ABHA Affiliates are permitted to run the following junior events:
• Junior Divisional – requires a Junior or Junior Open membership
• 10 & Under – requires a Junior or Junior Open membership
• Tiny Tots 7 & Under (Non‑Competitive) – requires a Tiny Tot membership
Further clarification:
Junior and Junior Open Members may only enter one of the above competitive junior events. A rider may enter either the 10 & Under or the Junior Divisional, but not both.
This motion was voted on and lost.
Outcome:
As both motions were declined, we now revert to the previous structure, where affiliates may choose which junior events best suit their demographic. Affiliates may run:
• Junior Divisional, or
• Age Groups (non‑divisional), and
• Tiny Tots
This provides flexibility for affiliates to tailor their programs to their local membership.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to providing safe, fair, and enjoyable events for our junior riders.
